The boating competition commenced the next day with Captain Marley's ship in the lead until it suddenly got caught in a fiery whirlpool which Marley tried and failed to escape. Marley took pity on the miserable businessman and tried to cheer him up by telling him about Caribbean seas and it's voodoo secrets, an action that would endanger the Caribbean's pirates years later. The night before the competition, he met a real-estate developer named Ozzie Mandrill who had fallen on hard times. With the horrible experience of Big Whoop behind him, Captain Marley went to Australia to take part in the American cup boat race. Marley and his crew apparently fled the scene and tore up their map into four pieces, with each crew member keeping a piece for themselves to ensure no one ever finds the treasure of Big Whoop. Making matters worst, the fearsome pirate LeChuck, who had been looking for Big Whoop himself to impress Captain Marley's granddaughter Elaine, found the gates first and stepped through them to become a undead ghost pirate with voodoo powers. He possessed a map that lead him and his crew to Dinky Island where the treasure was supposedly buried, but after navigating through the island's thick jungle and underground tunnels they learn to their horror that the treasure of Big Whoop was actually the very gates of hell themselves. Horatio Torquemada Marley was a pirate governor who decided leave his gubernatorial duties on Melee Island and set sail to locate the legendary treasure of Big Whoop.
